Welcome to Wellesley House School. I hope you enjoy our website and that it will give you a sense of the energy and vibrancy of the life of our unique and wonderful school by the sea.

About the School

Claire and I feel delighted, privileged and excited to have joined Wellesley House, a leading boarding and day preparatory school for girls and boys in Kent.

We are located in the seaside town of Broadstairs, enjoying the healthy lifestyle that the coast provides, and the beach and surrounding areas become an extension of both the classroom and the playground. It truly does provide a unique experience for the children in our care.

Priding ourselves on our family-feel, we set out to recognise and nurture the individual strengths of each of our pupils. A significant number of our pupils board, so we are able to create the ideal environment to monitor the development of all of our boys and girls both in and out of the classroom. You will see from the breadth of the site that we value a variety of activities and provide an outstanding range of opportunities for all – indeed, our extra-curricular programme is regarded as second-to-none. Success develops naturally in pupils who are happy, inspired and given the encouragement to push themselves. We encourage Welleslians to be prepared to take a few risks along the way, knowing they will always be supported by first-class pastoral care that underpins our educational ethos.

At Wellesley, we work together to give our pupils the best possible start in life and prepare them for the next stage of their education and the world beyond. Academic success is, of course, a priority and our pupils achieve excellent results. Foremost in our thinking, however, is to ensure that strong values are promoted and that the children are busy, happy and kind. From this, everything follows naturally. By the time they move on, Welleslians are confident, motivated and well-mannered, fully prepared to continue to thrive at their senior schools and deal with the excitement and challenges that lie ahead. Furthermore, the strength of the Wellesley community more than hints at the pride that all pupils, staff, parents, governors and alumni have in this school.

This is a very special place with rich history, proud tradition and such an exciting future. Wellesley House has great character and a wonderfully inspiring, kind and warm feel – I strongly encourage you to visit us to discover first-hand what it is that makes Wellesley so unique. Claire and I would be delighted to meet you and it would be our pleasure to show you around personally.
