From the Headmaster’s Study
The Summer term is always special at Wellesley and in Assembly this morning I had the opportunity to reflect on the huge range of positive areas in which our pupils are involved. Over the past two weeks, our pupils have: started their formal Common Entrance examinations; taken scholarship exams at senior schools; been on various open days; represented their school in competitive cricket, golf and tennis fixtures (rounders and athletics take place this week), taken part in the national IAPS general knowledge competition; sat formal music examinations in a range of instruments and much, much more. The energy and enthusiasm that Welleslians show each and every day really is infectious. We are proud of them all.

Northforeland Junior Golf Academy
Aside from our current and historical links with the world renowned Royal St George’s Golf Club, Wellesley are extremely fortunate to have a blossoming relationship with a superb nearby course – Northforeland Golf Club. As such, we are delighted to provide details of their Junior Golfing academy which may be of interest to some of our younger families.

Rowland Constantine Shield (The Finals)
In the latest round of this General Knowledge competition, our Wellesley team of Margot, Raf, Freya and Septimus did superbly but have not progressed any further in the Rowland Constantine Shield. However, our team of Year 7 and 8 pupils (Margot, Grace, Raf and Georgie) were successful in the buzzer competition and are through to the next stage – further details are to follow. We are proud of all 6 Welleslians who took part.
Wellesley House and Haddon Dene transition update
We were delighted to welcome pupils from year 4 and 5 at Haddon Dene over to Wellesley for the first of their transition days. The pupils (and staff) all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the opportunity to meet and integrate with their new friends made for a very positive experience all round. We look forward to welcoming some younger year groups this week.
Also, our pupils have had the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas regarding set / house names and the new school name for September during workshops at Wellesley.
Cake Sale – Monday 20th June – Morning Break
The School Council were so inspired by their visit from Rebecca Smith, author of ‘Super Daisy’, and the amazing work of The Little Princess Trust that they would like to hold a Cake Sale on Monday 20th June to raise some money for this important charity.
Pupils can bring their cakes and bakes into the school dining room on Monday 20th June at drop off. Please can we ask that cakes do not contain nuts and have a label to say what they are.
A small charge will be added to your school bill if your child chooses to buy any cakes.
Thank you for your support of this hugely worthwhile cause.
Pre Prep
Two great sets of results from the members of Pre-prep representing the U9 teams against Dover College and JKS. It was also lovely to hear how well the children behaved and what sporting behaviour they showed.
This week we are looking forward to meeting and welcoming the staff and children from the Pre-prep at Haddon Dene. Lots of fun activities planned on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
We continue to plan and prepare for our Jubilee tea party on the Friday afternoon before half term. The children may bring clothes in to change into with a red, white and blue theme.
