From the Headmaster’s Study

My thanks go to everyone for their efforts last week, in the face of not inconsiderable challenge. Everyone has reacted with great positivity and real agility, depending on the many different circumstances in which our pupils and staff find themselves. We fully appreciate that these are far from ideal conditions for Block 1 and 2 exams, and I know that Mr Spencer has reassured all pupils of this. Our thoughts are especially with pupils and staff who are currently isolating – we wish you all a speedy recovery.

Anti-bullying week

This week, we have not been able to do everything we wanted to due to circumstances beyond our control. However, this does not mean that we will not be able to discuss bullying and kindness with each year group over the next couple of weeks. Pupils at school have had the chance to enjoy a screening of the film “Wonder” as planned on Thursday afternoon, and for anyone at home, you might be able to watch it online (it’s worth a watch!). Kindness is the word this year and it is fantastic to see our pupils being extra kind to themselves and others in these hard times.

Pre Prep

News from Pre Prep

Last week Miss Payne’s class enjoyed an Indian themed day.  The children had a wonderful day completing various Indian activities. They learnt more information about India, played drums with Mr Barnes, completed rangoli patterns, henna designs and made clay tealight holders and even tasted some Indian food at lunch time!

During singing sessions, all the Pre-prep learnt some British Sign Language as they sang a range of fun songs.

In the Pre-prep assembly, everyone really enjoyed watching the video produced by Madame Laurans – One Kind Word. As part of anti-bullying week JH have produced some friendship recipes and we linked this to two very important Wellesley values: kindness and respect.

Sebby, Freddie and Phoebe received golden stars for kindness and courage.

Danes continue to lead with the most good marks.

Individual good marks: 1st place Florian, 2nd Laurie and 3rd George.

As Father Christmas will not be able to visit during the Christmas fair we have heard that he is hoping to make an appearance during the Pre-prep Christmas party on Monday 13th December. Before this, children in Nursery and Reception will have a chance to send their Christmas list up the chimney when they visit Mr and Mrs Franklin’s house.

Pre-Prep Individual Photos

Pre-prep individual photos have been sent home. Please keep an eye out for the order form in your child’s book bag or rucksack and return the completed form if you would like to purchase your child’s photo.

Christmas Fair – Sat 4th Dec – Cancelled

Sadly, the Friends of Wellesley have had to cancel the Christmas Fair on Saturday 4th December. However, we are hoping to run an internal event for pupils only at some point before the end of term.

School Examinations

Pupils in Blocks 1 and 2 will be sitting internal examinations this week (either in school or at home).
We would like to thank parents of those pupils at home for their support and help with this during this tricky time.

Save The Children Christmas Jumper Day

We will be having a school Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 10th December to raise money for Save the Children.  Children are allowed to wear their home clothes to school on this day with a festive jumper or top.  £1 will be added to the school bill for those that would like to take part.
