From the Headmaster’s Study

Every week during a break time, Claire and I are delighted to invite into our drawing room a group of Welleslians for squash and cakes or cookies (deliciously prepared by our brilliant catering department) for Team of the Week. This is designed to recognise individuals and groups of children who have contributed so positively to Wellesley life in the preceding week. Our focus is very much on recognising “attitude” rather than “outcome” or “attainment”. This morning, we were delighted to see the U11 netball team for their superb “teamwork, perseverance and courage” in last week’s fixtures. At other times this term, we have hosted the choir, the squash team and a group of artists. It provides a wonderful opportunity for us to say “well done” and “thank you” to the pupils for their efforts, and we hope that the children enjoy the squash and cookies!

School This Week

Block 3 and Block 4 Parent/Teacher meeting

This week there will be a Parent/Teacher meeting for Block 3 and Block 4. The meeting takes place on Saturday morning at 11.45 am in the Old Hall. A soup and sandwich lunch is being served: please email the school office to confirm that you will be attending so that we can judge numbers for catering.

Scientist of the Month

Well done to Rohan Dhesi, who was announced by Mr Waldie in Monday’s assembly as Scientist of the Month for January. His photograph will be added to the illustrious Wall of Scientists in the Science and Technology block.

Chinese New Year

We celebrate Chinese New Year on Tuesday, starting the day with a special morning assembly. We are then treated to our annual Chinese New Year lunch, and we thank those parents who are helping with our celebrations.

School Council

The School Council will hold its first meeting of the term on Friday during Morning Break in the Library.

Poetry Recitation Competition

The Poetry Recitation Competition takes place this coming Friday with a 6.40 pm start. We look forward to welcoming our adjudicator, Tom Wayman, who is the Head of English at Wellington College and is also a Housemaster. Competition to qualify has been very fierce: we congratulate those who have reached the final and wish them good luck. All parents are welcome to attend.

Sunday Outing

The boarders will be travelling to Ashford on Sunday for an adrenaline-filled trip to the Flip Out Trampoline Park.

Team of the Week

The winners of this week’s ‘Team of the Week’ are the members of the Under 11 Netball team, for their strong effort in the matches last week against Northbourne Park and Junior King’s. They will be rewarded with cookies and squash in the Headmaster’s drawing room during Tuesday morning break.

Menu

This week the kitchen will be serving Menu 2.
